NYDOL Direct Deposit Regulations Released
The New York State Department of Labor (NYDOL) has announced that effective March 7, 2017, employers will be prohibited from using direct deposit or debit cards to pay employees without first receiving written consent. Additionally, employers will be required to inform employees via a written notice of the options available for receiving wages. The NYDOL will release a sample notice and consent form as guidance, and employers should review all requirements in preparation for the March 2017 changes.
