The Legality of Electronic Signatures
Electronic signatures have allowed for increased speed and ease in the finalization and collection of documents, but there are questions regarding validity. In the Human Resources realm, there are a plethora of documents requiring signatures, specifically insurance enrollment forms, offer letters, and consulting agreements with contractors. According to the Uniform Electronic Transitions Act (UETA) and the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (ESIGN), documents cannot be denied legality just because they are signed electronically, but the acts also state that not all electronic signatures are enforceable.
