Employees Optimistic Offices Will Be Safe Once Reopened

Norwalk, CT. [May 4, 2020] Much of the narrative has now shifted to what reopening America will look like, including bringing workers back to offices after having them work remotely for upwards of eight weeks.

A recent poll conducted by human resources consulting firm OperationsInc ( has found that there is optimism among office workers that their employers will ensure their safety before recalling them back to the office. 80 percent of more than 400 remote workers polled reported that they are confident or somewhat confident that protocols will be put into place prior to their office reopening to ensure their safety.

“Once we are able to have employees return to offices, it is imperative that they perceive the environment to be safe,” said OperationsInc CEO, David Lewis.

“Guidelines and procedures must be well communicated, complete, and all must be held accountable to follow these new protocols,” Lewis added.

While there have been no return to work standards yet set by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) or federal or state governments, the survey indicates that employees have faith their employers will not reopen offices until it is safe to do so.

“Poll numbers suggest that employees believe their employers will not fail in these efforts,” Lewis said.

Full survey details include:

  • 30% of remote workers are very confident offices will be safe once reopened.
  • 50% are somewhat confident workplaces will be made safe before reopening.
  • 20% are not at all confident offices will be safe once reopened.

Survey data was collected online as part of OperationsInc’s ongoing free webinar series, “COVID-19: Your HR Questions Answered”. Over 400 remote workers throughout the United States participated in the poll.
