Employers Have Stepped Up Employee Communication During COVID-19

78% of Remote Workers Say Communication from Leadership Has Been Good to Exceptional

Norwalk, CT. [May 4, 2020] Communication challenges for remote teams were a common occurrence once employers shifted to forced remote work arrangements some eight weeks ago. However, results from a recent survey indicate that remote teams are starting to overcome communication issues felt earlier in quarantine.

In a recent poll conducted by OperationsInc (www.OperationsInc.com), one of the nation’s largest human resources consulting firms, 78 percent of the over 400 remote workers polled indicated that leadership in their organization have been doing a good to exceptional job communicating during the pandemic.

“It is clear that employers have quickly come to realize that in order to keep teams productive, cohesive, and focused, communication levels must be kept at an optimal level – even when this communication is done primarily through email or video chat,” said OperationsInc CEO, David Lewis.

As the national conversation shifts to reopening office workplaces, Lewis cautions that it is critical leadership teams continue high levels of communication.

“Adapting and overcoming the challenges created by working remotely is going to have long lasting effects on how employers communicate with their staff,” Lewis added.

Data was collected online as part of OperationsInc’s ongoing free webinar series “COVID-19: Your HR Questions Answered”. Of the over 400 remote workers nationwide polled about communication satisfaction:

  • 18% report that communication from leadership has been exceptional.
  • 60% indicated that communication has been good overall.
  • 19% report that communication has been less than ideal.
  • 3% preferred not to respond.
