Study Says Yes, Most Employees Check Work Email “After Hours”

A recently study conducted by email marketing firm ReachMail and digital marketing agency Digital Third Coast found that seventy-one percent of American workers check their email between the hours of 5 a.m. and 9 a.m., and seventy percent say they check work email after the hours of 6 p.m. The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) says this constant connectivity is being flagged by workplace experts as a growing problem as it relates not only to work/life balance, but also to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) if non-exempt employees are checking email after hours.
